Celebrating Curiosity: Week of the Young Child at ECDC

At the Envision Child Development Center (ECDC), learning comes to life through joyful experiences. The Week of the Young Child was a perfect example of that! Each day was filled with interactive opportunities that sparked curiosity, supported early literacy, and opened our students' eyes to a world of possibility.
The week began with music and movement as local author and musician Stephanie Brinkley visited to share her book Lightning Bug Jamboree—complete with a live reading and guitar performance.
On Tuesday, students met some very special guests from the Sedgwick County Zoo’s Education Team and learned about unique creatures while listening to The Mixed-Up Chameleon.
Midweek, the magic of stories continued with librarians from the Wichita Public Library’s Children's Services Division, who brought books and interactive storytelling into the classroom.
Friday was filled with creativity—from balloon artistry with local performer Dizzi da Clown in the morning to a bilingual story time with educator and author Susayn Brandes in the afternoon, where students explored German language and culture through books and Spritz cookie decorating.
Throughout the week, each child also received a book to take home, nurturing a love of reading beyond the classroom. At ECDC, we believe in creating moments that matter. Thanks to our wonderful visitors and partners, this week was a beautiful blend of fun and foundational learning—helping our young students thrive through exploration, literacy, and play.
