The AbilityOne Program, a U.S. government program, provides employment opportunities to nearly 37,000 people who are blind or have significant disabilities, including more than 2,500 veterans. As a National Industries for the
Blind
associated agency, Envision proudly delivers high-quality products to Federal customers through the AbilityOne Program.

In a significant effort to raise awareness of the AbilityOne program and its importance, Envision Xpress Offutt and Mountain Home Base Supply Centers (BSC’s) recently hosted congressional representatives, Senator Deb Fischer of Nebraska and Senator Mike Crapo of Idaho. These visits were pivotal in showcasing the critical role of AbilityOne and highlighting how the program impacts employment opportunities for people who are blind or visually impaired through its partnership with Envision.

At the Envision Xpress Offutt BSC, Manager William Heng led an engaging presentation, demonstrating how AbilityOne not only delivers high-quality products and services but also creates meaningful job opportunities for individuals with vision loss. Meanwhile, at the Envision Xpress Mountain Home BSC, Manager Hayden Dunn illustrated how these stores contribute to the efficiency of federal operations while furthering the overarching mission of AbilityOne and Envision.

The engagement with federal representatives at both centers was met with positive feedback, inspiring hope that increased awareness will lead to greater support and recognition of the AbilityOne program within federal agencies. As the program continues to evolve, fostering such interactions is crucial to building understanding and advocacy at the highest levels of government.
