As we continue to navigate the COVID-19 outbreak, Envision employees have gone above and beyond to contribute to the organization in whatever way they can. At Envision Dallas when additional staff was needed in Manufacturing, Blake Lindsay, outreach manager, Al Rodriguez, assistive technology trainer, and Amando Ortiz, assistive technology assistant, immediately stepped in to provide assistance.

“When the three of us were asked if we would be willing to help in the Manufacturing area, without hesitation, we unanimously answered “Yes,” Blake said.

Envision operated as an essential business due to the contracts and services our Wichita and Dallas Manufacturing operations and Envision Xpress military retail stores provide to the federal government and U.S. military. That fact has had a profound impact on Al.

“It is always a pleasure to assist when there is a need,” Al said. “Having the United States government as a customer is very special.”

The opportunity to temporarily shift his focus from assistive technology to production has been a positive experience for Amando. It allowed him to learn more about Envision’s operations.

“I love the teamwork and I’m learning more about Envision and how we produce markers and other products,” Amando said.  “I’m grateful for Production Manager Armando Chavez, who taught me many things. At times when I needed more help, everyone on the team was happy to lend a hand.”

As part of Envision, Inc., Envision Dallas is proud to be one of the largest employers of people who are blind or visually impaired in the United States. Our manufacturing operations not only create jobs that put people with vision loss in charge of their own careers, they also provide a steady stream of income to support our nonprofit mission.

Today, Envision Dallas (www.envisiondallas.org) continues to reach milestones in the production of:
  • Writing instruments (markers and highlighters)
  • Vinyl military award binders
  • Eyeglass cases
  • Textiles
