What to Expect During Your Initial Visit

Your journey with Envision starts with a personalized, one-on-one evaluation in our clinic. This first visit takes about 90 minutes and is designed to help us understand your unique needs, priorities, and goals. From there, we’ll create a tailored plan to support you every step of the way.

During your evaluation, we will:

  • Learn what matters most to you. We'll talk about the daily activities that have become more challenging due to your vision loss.
  • Map your current vision. This helps us identify areas of field loss or blind spots (scotomas).
  • Assess your visual abilities. We’ll look at both your distance and reading vision, along with how you perceive contrast.
  • Explore helpful tools. You’ll be introduced to optical and non-optical devices that may support your goals.
  • Explain your diagnosis. We'll provide clear, accessible information about the cause of your vision loss.
  • Address emotional well-being. We understand the emotional impact of vision changes. We’ll talk about how vision loss can affect mental health and how rehabilitation can help.
  • Connect you to additional support. If needed, we’ll recommend further assessment and training with our occupational therapy team.
  • Collaborate with your eye doctor. We’ll share our findings and care plan to ensure you receive seamless, coordinated care.
  • Create a plan of care just for you. Based on your goals, we’ll develop a personalized rehabilitation plan to help you move forward with confidence.
