Meet Charlotte

“After Charlotte was born, we were surprised to find out that she had a rare genetic anomaly. Her presenting features were microcephaly, chorioretinopathy (blindness in one eye), and lymphedema in her feet.

Charlotte was blessed to stay home under the care of grandparents for her first year of life. Our childcare fell through in May 2023, and Charlotte was 1.5 years old and still not walking. She was on the waitlist at three other daycare centers, and they were not willing to make an exception for her. I was at a loss for what to do. My husband and I were getting very creative with how we could work 40-hour weeks and care for our daughter full time.

Finally, when I was on the verge of quitting my job, I stopped by Envision without an appointment and told Buddy at the front desk I had a daughter who was blind in one eye and that we had been waiting for her to get into daycare, but nothing was open. Buddy called Teresa, then Teresa and Jennifer had a conversation with me where I was in tears of desperation. I needed my daughter to be in full-time daycare and she had no options because of her walking delay.

Teresa made several calls, and she started an application with the state for a walking exemption for Charlotte to be in the T1 classroom with other children her age. About 3 weeks later Charlotte started at Envision in the Child Development Center! She loves being with Miss. Kim, Miss. Genesis, and Miss. Krista.

Within two weeks of Charlotte starting full-time daycare, she was walking! Now her teachers joke that she doesn't walk, she runs! We are so proud of how far Charlotte has come along since starting at Envision, she is developing vocabulary, playing with and socializing with her children her age, and she always looks forward to art projects!

Without Envision, our family would not be where we are today. We thank Envision for taking time to hear our story, and for making space for our beloved Charlotte to learn, grow and become the best version of herself. Thank you!”
