Envision Welcomes David Decker as the New Executive Director of Development Who Brings Decades of Experience

Experienced Leader Will Help Garner Financial Support for the Organization’s Mission to Help Those Who are Blind or Visually Impaired

Wichita, Kan. (Oct. 18, 2022) – Envision, one of the nation’s largest employers of people who are blind or visually impaired, announced that David Decker, Ed.D. has joined the Envision Foundation team as the Executive Director of Development. Bringing more than 20 years of experience, Decker will strengthen the philanthropic and stewardship efforts for the Envision Foundation to serve more people who are blind or visually impaired across the nation.

“I am honored to join the development team at Envision,” said Decker. “I have been genuinely impressed by the number of programs and services we provide at Envision. It is truly a gem for people who are blind or visually impaired. I look forward to helping the organization grow.”

Most recently, Decker was the Chief Financial Officer at the Newton School District and previously led annual fundraising efforts at the University of Kansas for nearly 15 years. Decker also had the honor of having a summer fundraising doctoral internship at the University of Cambridge in England. In his role at Envision, Decker will develop and execute comprehensive fundraising plans for Envision, consisting of individual giving, annual giving, corporate giving, major gifts, special events and grant development.

Decker has a personal connection to the blind and visually impaired community which has fueled his passion to seek employment at Envision. “I had an uncle who was blind his whole life. He struggled without support like what we provide at Envision,” said Decker. “I witnessed this brilliant man feel undervalued and struggle to fit in with society. He helped me to understand truly the life-changing impact that Envision can have on people. And to realize how many people don’t have access to quality low vision care – I want to help change that and impact as many people as possible.”

Envision, headquartered in Wichita, Kan., provides opportunities to build skills, confidence and independence through programs, rehabilitation, groundbreaking research and child development for people who are blind or visually impaired. 100% of donations directly fund core services and programs at Envision.
