The Envision Arts Program at our Dallas location was recently highlighted on a segment with NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt, reaching an average of six million total viewers! This airing encompassed the story of artist and sculptor Tomas Bustos, who has been teaching sculpting class at Envision Dallas for over a year and exhibited at the Envision Arts Gallery in 2023, and the impact of accessible and tactile art for people who are blind or visually impaired.

Now, the story just caught its second whirlwind of national coverage after airing on January 21st on Sunday TODAY with Willie Geist on NBC News, which reaches over two million viewers!

Sarah Kephart, Envision Arts Manager, has led the Envision Arts Program for more than 11 years and championed bringing Bustos to the Envision Arts Gallery in Wichita, Kansas in the Spring of 2023 for his first solo exhibition.

"I am grateful to all of my students over the years for trusting me as I have guided you to, 'trust yourself and the creative process,'" said Kephart. "I thank the community that has believed, supported and engaged with the incredible people and artwork at the Envision Arts Gallery, including Tomas Bustos in his first solo exhibition of this body of work alongside his Envision Dallas art students in Masterpiece Relief for the Blind, that opened in May of 2023. I also want to thank the Envision Board, Executive Team, Envision Print, and the Foundation Mission Services team who have equally devoted so much of their attention and dedication to our mission."

“Tactile and visual expression creates opportunities for inclusive storytelling that gives a voice to people’s experiences and in turn empowers individuals and creates a sense of connection and community," continues Kephart. "At Envision, we are determined to break down stereotypes around blindness and low vision that are still all-too present in society, and by creating accessible art experiences we cultivate a community built on compassion and courage where we all thrive together.”

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the team at NBC and Sunday TODAY with Willie Geist for illuminating our mission and story on a global stage once again. This extraordinary double exposure is a unique and unparalleled experience, amplifying awareness of our mission and solidifying our dedication to cultivating a world of inclusion and empowerment for individuals with visual impairments through the world of the arts. We invite you to continue accompanying us on this remarkable journey, celebrating these monumental achievements together.
