Leading the Way: Envision Showcases Breakthrough Research on the Global Stage
Blog Content
Envision Research Institute (ERI) and Envision Vision Rehabilitation Center (EVRC) experts present groundbreaking findings on augmented reality and digital diagnostics at the world's premier vision science forum.
Envision is taking its latest findings in augmented reality and digital diagnostics to the global stage at the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) Annual Meeting, the world's largest gathering of vision scientists.
At ARVO 2025, ERI's researcher, Dr. Sarika Gopalakrishnan shared findings on how augmented reality (AR) device designs help individuals with low vision improve their functional performance. Reflecting on the impact of this work, she noted, "Our research ensures that decisions regarding the type of augmented reality device chosen to improve visual performance needs to be supported by rigorous clinical research and methodology protocol." Dr. Gopalakrishnan’s ARVO presentation was recognized and commended by her mentors, Dr. Arathy Kartha and Dr. Donald Fletcher.
Envision's presence at ARVO continues to grow as the team prepares to present additional research at ARVO 2026 in Denver. ERI research assistant Andrew Gibson will be presenting on how AR device designs influence balance of people with low vision. Additionally, Dr. Donald Fletcher, medical director of EVRC, will showcase innovative digital tools designed to improve the early detection and monitoring of macular disease.
By experimenting with new technologies, Envision helps ensure people who are blind or visually impaired can choose tools that truly support their unique goals and lifestyle. Donor support helps make this work possible, advancing the field and ensuring that the latest innovations reach the hands of the people who need them most.
