Envision employees Mika Pyyhkala, Director of Digital Accessibility, Envision Workforce Innovation Center; Roshunda Holt, Customer Care Specialist, Envision Workforce Innovation Center; and Brianna Murray, Mentor, College Success Program have joined the American Foundation for the Blind’s (AFB) Blind Leaders Development Program. Mika has joined as a Mentor, while Roshunda and Brianna are Fellows.

The goal of AFB’s Blind Leaders Development Program, started in 2019, is to help encourage systemic change towards a more inclusive work culture by elevating people with vision loss at the highest levels of leadership. The program says it “will increase the Fellows’ effectiveness at higher levels of leadership, influence and responsibility.”

Over the course of this 12-month program, the Fellows will: follow the Leadership Challenge curriculum by Jim Kouzes and Barry Posner with three days of in-person training, participate in a series of workshops on how to strengthen interpersonal communication skills, and engage with a blind Mentor already in a leadership position.

Mika, Brianna and Roshunda have agreed to share notes about their experiences and progress along the way. Stay tuned and be sure to follow our social media channels and our Envision blog for updates.
