On Saturday, October 5th, the 2024 Envision Gala brought supporters of Envision together at the historic B-29 Doc Hangar in Wichita. This year’s theme, Surpassing Barriers, celebrated the achievements of people who are blind or visually impaired and focused on empowering futures.

The evening kicked off with immersive sensory experience stations, inviting guests to step into the shoes of people with vision loss. Participants engaged their other senses through activities like a white cane demonstration led by Envision Vision Rehabilitation Center experts and the Seeing Through Our Eyes story wall, which used visual simulators to show how Envision program participants, employees and clients of services experience their world.

The highlight of the evening was 10-year-old Emma, a longtime participant in Envision programs like Heather’s Camp, who performed multiple times throughout the night, offering a powerful glimpse into the impact Envision has on individuals of all ages. Dinner was provided by Scotch and Sirloin, a proud Envision partner for over a decade. The annual Spirit of Philanthropy Award was presented to Carla Boren, Chief Human Resources Officer at Corza Medical Ophthalmology, honoring Corza and Envision’s shared commitment to advancing ophthalmic health and creating opportunities for people with visual impairments in all communities.

Throughout the night, heartfelt conversations were had and connections formed as guests learned more about the incredible work Envision is doing. From the sensory experiences to the inspiring stories shared, it was clear that the evening was more than just a celebration—it was a reminder of the importance of inclusion and the possibilities that arise when people with vision loss are given opportunities to succeed. The night was filled with gratitude, and we are incredibly thankful to our donors and supporters, and to the Envision employees who made it all happen.
