Teresa Houston, Director of our Envision Child Development Center (ECDC), has recently become a Board Member of Child Start, an organization that provides early childhood development services that prepare young children for lifelong success in South-Central Kansas. She has also recently become a council member of the Child Nutrition and Wellness (CNW) Advisory Council through the Kansas State Department of Education.

In these roles, Houston is committed to championing equity and inclusion in early childhood development. "Joining the Board of Child Start and the CNW Advisory Council is a tremendous honor for me," Houston shares. "I am eager to connect with leaders in the childcare development and nutrition sectors and engage in meaningful and collaborative conversations. Witnessing and fostering equity and education in childcare is a passion of mine, and I am excited to contribute to these efforts. As a blind black woman, representing my culture and advocating for children with disabilities is deeply important to me."

These prestigious appointments are not only significant milestones in Teresa's career but also enhance her ability to stay current on the latest standards and procedures in childcare, directly benefiting her role as Director of ECDC. She extends her heartfelt gratitude to Michael Monteferrante, Envision President and CEO, for encouraging her to grow and know that her voice in the community matters and is of value. She also extends thanks to Director Kelly Chanay of the CNW and Executive Director Tonya Bullock of Child Start for their trust and support, providing her with valuable opportunities to advocate for children in early childhood.
