Envision Dallas (www.envisiondallas.org (opens in new window)) is doing its part to support the Dallas community and the entire Envision organization during the global COVID-19 pandemic. The neon orange spools of thread used by Dallas’ sewing staff to make protective vests and more for highway workers have been temporarily replaced with black, red and yellow thread – colors that may not glow, but, in this case, have intense purpose. The team is making cloth face masks, which have already been put into the hands of 500 health care workers at Texas Oncology. Another 500 were made especially for Envision employees nationwide and 1,000-plus for health care facilities and a children’s hospital in communities that are served by Envision. Just last week, Envision Dallas received an order from the Texas Department of Transportation for 15,000 masks.

“Never before has our region and the rest of the country faced such a challenging time. It wasn’t a question of if we would help those around us, but how,” said David Stupay, Envision Dallas executive director. “It quickly became clear that we could have the greatest impact utilizing our amazing sewing team to make and distribute cloth face masks. It’s something we are committed to doing as the need arises.”

Envision Dallas’ efforts have been met with an outpouring of appreciation from recipients as well as coverage from the local media. On April 15, the Dallas Business Journal included Envision Dallas in an article about DFW manufacturers that have made a shift to producing personal protection equipment.

Envision Dallas is currently operating as an essential business due to its federal and military contracts – as is the case for all Envision locations, including Envision Industries (www.envisionus.com/Fueling-Our-Mission/Envision-Industries) and Envision Xpress military retail stores (/www.envisionus.com/Fueling-Our-Mission/Envision-Xpress).
