DALLAS – Envision Dallas Lighthouse for the Blind announced today that it will host its inaugural Golf Fore Vision tournament on Monday, November 11, 2019 at Bridlewood Golf Club, 4000 West Windsor Blvd., in Flower Mound, Texas. The tournament is made possible by Platinum Sponsor Allen Exploration in Irving, Texas along with Ace Sponsor Summit Plastics in Summit, Mississippi. One hundred percent of proceeds benefit Envision Dallas Lighthouse for the Blind’s programs and services for individuals who are blind or visually impaired.
 
“We are building on Envision Dallas Lighthouse for the Blind’s 88-year storied history in Dallas and identifying ways we can exceed expectations to meet the comprehensive needs of people who are blind or low vision,” said Michael Monteferrante, president and CEO at Envision. “We are reaching out to the community to join us on a journey of evolution that will enable us to introduce necessary youth and adult art programs, support groups, low vision rehabilitation services in a clinical setting and more.”
 
Individuals and businesses throughout the Dallas area are invited to be a champion for North Texans who are blind or visually impaired through their participation in Golf Fore Vision as players and/or sponsors.
 
“With population growth within Envision Dallas Lighthouse for the Blind’s service area expected to double over the next 10 years, our mission is more crucial than ever,” said Heather Hogan, senior vice president of Foundation & Mission Services at Envision. “At the end of the day, our golfers will have the satisfaction of knowing they are positively changing the lives of people with vision loss, and it’s a feeling they will never forget.”
 
Ed “Too Tall” Jones, former Dallas Cowboys Super Bowl champion and three-time All-Pro/Pro Bowl defensive end, and Larry Kimbler, former executive vice president of Staubach Co. and former chair of the American Foundation for the Blind’s National Board of Trustees, will co-chair the event.
 
“I’ve been fortunate to have witnessed firsthand all of the remarkable things going on at Envision Dallas Lighthouse for the Blind,” Jones said. “I am honored to be part of Golf Fore Vision and be an advocate for such a worthy cause that is making Dallas a better place to live for people who are blind or visually impaired.”
 
Registration for the four-person scramble tournament includes greens fee, golf cart, lunch and other refreshments. Contests and raffle drawings will be held throughout the day, including longest drive, longest putt, closest to the pin and competition for overall best team score. Tee off is at noon. 
 
Part of the Envision, Inc. family based in Wichita, Kansas, Envision Dallas Lighthouse for the Blind promotes advocacy and independence for people who are blind or visually impaired in 11 North Texas counties: Collin, Cooke, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Fannin, Grayson, Hunt, Kaufman, Navarro and Rockwall. 
 
Funds raised through the Golf Fore Vision tournament will help to expand offerings as well as strengthen Envision Dallas Lighthouse for the Blind’s existing programs that include assistive technology training, orientation and mobility instruction, Serving our Seniors, an adaptive/low vision aids store, vocational rehabilitation services and youth pre-employment transition services offered in partnership with the Texas Workforce Commission.
